Award winning photographer Sandy Young based in central Scotland within 35 minutes of Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Sandy Young’s varied work reflects the importance of photography in illustrating news, products and events by presenting information to clients in the most attractive and effective way. He has developed a wealth of skills and experience where intuitive reaction to a particular situation, an awareness of story, as well as technical and creative skill and judgement all play a part in creating the best photographic opportunity.

Sandy’s extensive experience over the last 12 years has led to his current recognised position within the media. Covering a variety of subjects ranging from news, business and politics to arts, culture and sport, he works both in the UK and overseas for national, regional and independent publications.

He has worked as a staff and freelance photographer and as a result, has experience of daily liaison with picture editors of national newspapers, selecting and prioritising photo calls and media opportunities and supplying photographs to deadline for other UK national titles.

With an impressive client list, Sandy’s work is highly regarded within both the public and private sector. As well as daily commissioned work from the leading Scottish national broadsheet newspapers, The Scotsman and The Herald, he also works from time to time on the picture desk giving him a unique insight in to what picture desks require in a news worthy picture whether it be news, sport or features. In addition Sandy has also covered international events such as The Cannes Film Festival, Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations, Edinburgh International Festival, The MTV Music Awards, Tartan Week in New York and I am the official photographer for the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo

Whist shooting to a client’s brief I am always looking for a creative image with flair which best projects the product at hand into a newsworthy picture, while adopting the correct professional approach.
